Wabi-Sabi Elopement Wedding video

An Abandoned Marble Quarry in Spain Set the Stage for this Wabi-Sabi Inspired Elopement! Wedding Film Spain

One of the coolest things about eloping is that you + your love can venture to more remote places, in lieu of finding a venue that accommodates a large party. So, say you found abandoned marble quarries in Spain — you could say your vows there! At least that was the case for Lucy + Liam!

L+L told the event design team at A Través del Espejo that they really love the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi, and all that comes within its artistic aesthetic. Wabi-sabi loosely translates to simplicity and modesty while appreciating time and how it is ever fleeting. When this idea is applied, aesthetically speaking, it encourages one to embrace the lopsided imperfections, and seek out things that are simple, modest, and authentic. Wabi-sabi is all about seeing the beauty in the tattered imperfections.

So, the abandoned marble quarry in Valencia, Spain was just that: dilapidated, natural, and unconventional. To complement the vast marble slabs, the team designed unstructured floral compositions and utilized a ton of natural materials — making sure everything remained authentic.

Now, darling readers, Spain is calling! Let’s venture to the marble slabs in the shots captured by Carlos Lucca!

And, if you’re wanting to venture to Spain for just a bit longer, take a peek at this clip from Jose Botella Films:
